Medveja, small beautiful place on west Istrian coast. Only nine kilometers from Opatija, and two kilometers from Lovran. The legend says that Medveja was named after the Greek myth heroine Medeja, after hiding in that area with Jason. The underground streams flowing directly from the Ucka mountain into the sea on the beach of Medveja. According to the same story, is Medea’s tears.
Medveja beautiful pebble beach with its total area occupies 44 km2. Here everyone can find a perfect place to rest. But, there is also, a campground situated in the area of the delta of the creek which flows from Ucka Mountain.

Lovran is a small town in Istria, Croatia. It is situated on the western coast of the Kvarner Bay with a population of something over 4000. Its name derives from Laurel (Laurus nobilis), as shown in the coat of arms.
Lovran is one of the oldest coastal settlements on the eastern shore of Istrian peninsula. By the early Middle Ages it was an important urban and shipbuilding center of northern Adriatic. Kraljevica is an old seaside town, located at the entrance to the Bay of Bakar. In the heart of the Kvarner bay, where the inland roads first encounter the sea. The area of the City stretches to 1753 ha of land and to 365 ha of sea. The coast is indented and long is about 13km. To Zagreb there is 158 km, to Ljubljana is 139, to Triest 94, to Venice 253, to Graz 328 km. Two reliefs are visible on the area of the town: a fertile Vinodol Valley with very steep eastern precipitation and a coastal bias with a slight incline towards the sea. More then 4500 inhabitants live in the six settlements: Bakarac, Kraljevica, Križišće, Mali Dol, Šmrika and Veli Dol.
Ika is a place with something over 400 inhabitants on the eastern coast of Istria, in the Kvarner Bay. It is located on the Opatija riviera, and administratively as a settlement belongs to the city of Opatija. Today, Ika almost got together with neighboring places, Icici in the north and Lovran in the south.
For a long time, Ika was a fishing village and port for the export of goods to nearby towns and settlements on the slopes of Učka. At the beginning of the 18th century, small wooden ships began to be built here, but as in many other places, such shipbuilding collapsed in the 19th century. Then, however, begins a flashy tourist climb of the neighboring Opatija. Icici is a small tourist place with about 800 inhabitants. It is located in the northern Adriatic, in the Kvarner Bay. The place is 5 km far from Opatija and 15 km from Rijeka. It is located at the foothill of the Ucka mountain. It is 1401 m high and which environment has been declared a nature park due to the special and beautiful nature.

From its inception to the present day, Fužine can thank for the development of a very good traffic location and close to the transit routes – once the Karolina road connecting the interior with the coast, the railway line, and today the Zagreb – Rijeka motorway. Bakarac is a settlement that belong to the town of Kraljevica. Located in the Bay of Bakar, not far from Rijeka. The main activities of this region are tourism, agriculture and fisheries.
Exactly opposite to Bakarac is Bakar. Because of that some people in the bay on opposite sides of these two places are called the Bakar Bay and the other (from Bakarac) Bakarac Bay.
Bakarac was a military station in the Roman era. The place is very well known for the original wooden tuners. They are still preserved, and were very effective for tuna catching (tuna now no longer exists in the bay);
Also, the beginning of the tuna hunting season was commonly associated with the transportation of the nets from Bakarac to Bakar, which attracted domestic and foreign visitors. Bakar is an ancient city and port, one among the oldest cities of the North Adriatic Sea with a long and rich history. The old core of the town has been declared a cultural monument in 1968. This region has been inhabited within the third and second century B.C. and therefore the Roman Empire has also left traces of its existence here. The Croatian Lords belonging to the families of Frankopan and Zrinski lived here. And also the Empress Marija Terezija granted this town the status of a king’s city.
